NAME: Cassandra "Sandy" Marko
AGE: 13
CANON: Spider-man: Reign
CANON PULL-POINT: Issue 3: After she leads the Symbiotes into the church full of children.
HISTORY: Wiki links for Chapters 1, 2 and 3 are here.

Sandy grew up in a darker, miserable version of New York that had cut itself off from the rest of the world to protect itself. Spending her days trying to stay out of the way of militaristic police Sandy always felt the pressure of society trying to stamp out lower class families like hers along with the added pressure of knowing that she had a power. And in this version of New York superheroes, super villains, and anyone with powers beyond that of normal humans were arrested and spirited away often to never be seen again. It was a New York without heroes, but Sandy dreamed of them coming back to defend the helpless and clean up the city.

When she was younger her father would tell her stories about the Super-heroes and villains that had once lived in New York. He had known most of them in one way or another having been the villain known as "The Sandman" But like all others with powers and abilities he was rounded up at some point and locked away leaving Sandy to be raised by her mother who meant well but was often exhausted just from working to support their small family.

In the story she provides a sort of window into the world without Spider-man. A POV from the people of New York who are broken hearted and just want to be saved, until ultimately she realizes that she has to save herself and the city too must rise up and fight for survival. We don't even ever really learn her name till the last book when her father starts to guess, unable to remember her name because he's been gone so long.

PERSONALITY: Sandy has had to grow up a lot in some ways, and has been denied the chance to grow up in other ways due to the harshness of her cities law enforcement, and growing up poor and lonely in the city. She can be cynical at times, often assuming the worst of grown ups and especially of cops, assuming that they are all bullies in one way or another. The exception to this is if you come off less a member of law enforcement and more a superhero, anti-hero or villain. Yes even Super-villains rank higher in her book then cops.

Despite that cynical side of her Sandy can also be a bit of a dreamer at times. We see her on rooftops gazing out over the city dreaming of a better future. We are introduced to her spray painting walls in defiance of authority and practically praying for a super heroic savior to rescue her and drag her city out of the darkness into a new, brighter and happier tomorrow. She does not think very highly of herself in most regards. The only skill she has that she's particularly confident in is her speed and ability to survive, usually by leaving behind anyone not fast enough to keep up with her. While she is proud of her ability to run and hide she feels guilty about the fact that this means leaving others to take the fall, as well as how she views the acts of running and hiding more cowardly then heroic.

While Sandy does come from issue 3 I feel it's worth mentioning that by the end of issue 3 and beginning of issue 4 she's found her backbone and leads a revolution of children to try and take back the city. She may be scared, selfish and lack confidence most of the time, but she's got a fire in her, an anger at the sight of injustice and if she can tap into her courage it burns hot. Ultimately her courage and drive to save the city and do what she thinks is right is what gets her killed in the 4th issue of the series.

While she tries to keep her guard up and stay suspicious of strangers, especially adults...Sandy actively wants people to trust. She lets herself be taken in by this group of kids who follow around an elderly J. Jonah Jamerson all because they have the confidence and belief that the things Jamerson says are true. She follows them into the middle of the city for a demonstration, joining in the protest until she watches one of her new friends get killed in front of her. Then she falls back onto doing what she does best and runs away. She can feel guilty about it later (and does)

Finally despite her desire to act tough, strong and smart...she really just craves validation. Someone who doesn't mind that she's not the smartest or bravest person. People who can help her find things she is good at. Sandy does best when provided with mentors that she can learn from either by example or by working under them.

ORGANIC FORM: A scrawny, gangly human teenage girl.
SUITABILITY/REACTION: Sandy thought she had things rough in her crappy, military run New York but she never imagined something as scary as the Wasteland. When backed into a corner and forced to she will find that there are reserves of courage inside her she never knew she had and I think the wasteland might bring out the best in her. In her own story she was always looking to the sky for a hero, but I think her time in the Wasteland will mold her into a hero or anti-hero in her own right. What she lacks in size and strength she makes up for in speed and stealth which should come in handy for the other members of the team, not to mention how useful it is to have a smaller companion to get into those hard to reach places when you're looking for scrap.

NOTES, QUESTIONS, COMMENTS: While it may never come up, just in case super-powers get unlocked, Sandy's only super power as seen in the comic is the ability to turn her body into moving, living stone. This means her internals, her skin, hair and clothes all turn into stone (As evidenced when we see her shatter) It's implied that with time, practice and guidance Sandy could unlock powers similar to her fathers in one way or another but as she dies in the comic we'll never know for sure.

Also I recognize that by the time this application gets in it may be too late and the game might be full. If I need to resubmit next time please just let me know and I'm sorry for the delay.
